Pardo night, an event held yearly at Bulacao, Pardo Church. I am writing this blog to share the wonderful performances I've seen during this year's Pardo night which was held during September 27, 2016 at Bulacao, Pardo Church. Just like last year, students swarmed the place in anticipation of the performances that were about to unfold and awe the audience with their breathtaking performances. But, just like last year, dark and gloomy clouds were painted across the sky and not long after, it started to pour down heavily. Both performers and audience took shelter from the pouring rain. Thus, the program was delayed until the rain would stop pouring down. Finally, after what seemed like eternity, the rain finally stopped. It was around 7;00 in the evening that the program finally started and revealed this year's theme which was quite 'unique' if you would say. The theme was, "Circle of Life."

The image beside is symbol presenting the Circle of Life. Now, some of you might be wondering as to what exactly is the Circle of Life. Well, allow me to enlighten you. The very definition of Circle of Life is nature's way of taking and giving back life to earth. It symbolizes the universe being sacred and divine. It represents the infinite nature of energy, meaning if something dies it gives new life to another. That's what the Circle of Life is.
Keep in mind that these performances were carried out by the Junior Highschool and the Senior Highschool students of Asian College of Technology.
Here are some pictures my classmate took during the performances of the Junior Highschool.

This is one of the performances of the Junior Highschool named as: "Elements".
Just as the name suggests, we can see a relation with this year;s theme. Starting from the right, we have Jilliane, who is a classmate and a friend of mine, wearing a costume representing one of the elements, Wind. Next up, we have a participant(don't know the name) representing the fierce element, Fire. Followed by the calm and quiet element, Water. Last but not the least, the beautiful yet cruel element, Mother Nature or simply 'Nature'. These are all elements related to the Circle of Life theme.
Next up, another performance brought to you by the Junior Highschool is the modern art of today's society, a performance called: Hip-Hop.

Though it may not seem to have any relevance to the circle of life theme, this performance surely shows us the growth of society from the olden days. When people were still praising stones, trees, animals and mother nature herself as their God. Going from there, to here, modern society has greatly changed and so has their art. Their ways of living, and everything. But, if you think about it, Circle of Life means "taking and giving birth to a new life" wouldn't that somehow apply to the reason why this performance was presented even though the theme was mainly about nature and not about modern society. By taking away and changing the old lifestyle of the old generation, it gave birth to new art or a new generation.
Well, this is only my opinion, but let's leave that aside for now. Both performances coming from the Junior Highschool were amazing and I say, they didn't waste any of their sweat and effort from the long practices they had just to give the audience the time of their life.
Now, after the Junior Highschool, we have the Senior Highschool, but sadly I wasn't able to take a picture of their performance, but it was also an amazing and breathtaking performance coming from the Senior Highschool. They had also worked hard.
After the last performance of the Senior Highschool, the program was put to a close around 9;30, and both the audience and the performers went home safely. It was truly a fantastic night, though it had rained, it still didn't stop this year's Pardo Night.
